My standard rate is $200/hour. If that is the only thing preventing you from moving forward, let's talk. I have been able to work out options to move forward with my clients that fit their budgets.
That is a good question. I have a strong mind for systems. When time is available I enjoy getting to know how my client's systems work and I usually have some great ideas on how they can do more with less or how they can make their systems more efficient and reliable.
I am pretty good at finding holes in systems that I understand. I can also usually come up with a patch for those holes.
I prefer creating and working within systems that automate to-do lists and timing. Project/Task Management Software, Calendar Reminders, Gantt charts, redundancy are all things I prefer to depend on.
I have applied this to website management for decades now, so I am familiar with that, but I have also applied myself to live webinars, SEO, SEP, HTLM, CSS, and PHP Troubleshooting, LAMP Stack systems administration, Server Architecture, Networking, MySQL management, and more. Basically, if I am interested in it, I can learn it and apply it. I learn quickly and iteratively when my goals and tools are clearly defined.
I have worked in small business web development and SEO for over 20 years. It's important that it is small business because, in a small business I learned to do everything. Like most non-profits, job descriptions in small businesses are more of a "main responsibility" than a hard and fast limitation. I have done everything from Systems Architecture to Pick Pack and Ship. I have also learned when it is a good idea to push back and when it's not, how to communicate potential issues and recommend solutions.
Most importantly I am aware of what makes "dollars and sense". Since I believe in the non-profits I am helping, I believe that every dollar should be spent wisely. If it makes more sense to hand-off work to an internal resource, I will train the resource.
I want to be able to do something to make the world a better place with the skills I have. I want to be able to eat, but I also want what I am doing to matter. I think there are opportunities for me to accomplish both and I want to find them.
